SERVICES and FAQs

  1. Therapy
Dr. Murphy specializes in individual therapy with adults, and may occasionally work with couples. Common issues include mood disorders, anxiety disorders, life transitions, work/life balance issues, and dealing with difficult relationships.
  2. Insurance
Dr. Murphy accepts many commercial insurance plans, including Blue Cross/Blue Shield, Health New England, United Healthcare, Harvard Pilgrim, Connecticare, and Cigna. This list may not be completely inclusive as Dr. Murphy joins other insurance panels. If your plan is not listed, you may inquire with your insurance plan about "out of network" benefits.
  3. Fees
If you are using insurance, please refer to your insurance plan for mental health benefits. Most clients pay only a copay, or sometimes need to meet a deductible before benefits apply. Dr. Murphy does not use a sliding scale, but may be able to offer a "paid at time of service" discount if you choose not to use your insurance benefits.
  4. A Good Fit?
Feeling comfortable with your therapist is important. Dr. Murphy is a creative and practical therapist who strives to make sure you get the most out of your time. Clients often tell her that she is more direct and gives more feedback than other therapists with whom they have worked. She often uses Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) in sessions, and focuses on mindfulness and healthy boundaries.
  5. Private Practice Consultation
